Need help old video card

Compequip

I have an older comp. P4 3GHZ CPU with 1 GB Ram and a Nvidia Geforce 6600 GPU. Under hardware info. it says it's a PCI Bus 1. My question, is there a better video card I can get for this thing, or is this it. It works O.K. and the kids can play CS and WOW on it. Just trying to update to something a lttle better without spending alot of money.

Thanks,

BTW I just built a new comp. with all the bells and whistles.

We'll after doing more research I found out that it supports AGP 1X 4X and 8X so I guess I'll go on Newegg and see what the best card is. If anyone has any suggestions please just chime in.

Thanks

Yeah I looked them up, but what would be better than a nvidia 6600GT. I assuming maybe a Nvidia 7300 or 7600 GT. But what about the ATI cards. Would a 3650 or 3850 AGP be better than the Nvidia 6600GT?

Thanks

And as for budget cheap as possible...... I'll even try and find one used on ebay or hear. I just need to know what a nice agp video card would be so I can start searching.

If you have a 6600 AGP, something like a 1650 pro ot 7600GT would be better. Another step up would be a 3850, pretty sure they make those in AGP.

I decided if I can find a 3850 AGP used from someone I'm going to do it. I'm looking on ebay and craigslist. Newegg has one for 114.99 after rebates, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much.

You're better off getting a whole new computer. You could probably get a card that's at least 10 times better than that card for the same price. The reason it's so expensive is because it's AGP. It's obsolete. If you ever consider getting a cheap new computer I would get the video card then. There are way more options and the price to performance ratio for PCI Express cards is way better. I got mine with a printer and monitor for $450 at the black friday sale. But if you're stuck with that computer I guess that's just the only way to go.
