size problem

just bought myself a seagate ST3250310AS 250gb hard drive, now i have installed it with windows vista on it, took off the jumper which restricts its speed, but its only showing as 127gb and i cant find an answer can someone please help
 
i have this, how do i sort it??

I have'nt got Vista but if you right click on the allocated part. Is there an option to "Extend" ?

If so it should get you back your space.

wow thanks it did it i now have 232gb is that normal for a 250gb hard drive?
 
I suppose if 1024 bytes=1KB then

250,000,000,000 bytes / 1024 = 244,140,625 KB
244,140,625 KB / 1024 = 238,418 MB
238,418 MB / 1024 = 232 GB

Perhaps someone will agree or disagree with my calculation.
Most if not all HD manufacturers use 1000bytes=1KB, probably as a selling point.

Yes, I believe that is correct. I have a 250GB Seagate, and the total amount of storage available is 232.88 GB. :)
 
ah that all cool then, thought i had a duff one for a min but now i understand lol, should still be plenty room for basic photoshop and 2-4 games
