First of all, it's a pleasure for me to join the forum and ask ur assistance.. it seems here you are all in co-opartion with each other.. this encouraged me a lot to sign up and ask for ur suggestions to my problem...
I bought a Dell Inspirion 6400 Notebook, 18 months ago.. It worked normally, although I worked daily using it and for long periods... I never needed to set up new Windows or to (fully/partially) format its hard disk...
Two weeks ago, a problem took place... Whenever I am not connected to the internet; the laptop works normally, no problems with it except the existence of viruses which I encountered when I ran a Kaspersky virus scan..
As soon as I connect the LAN DSL cable to the laptop, the computer freezes sooner
(5 min at MAX. - upon activity of an Internet service ONLY)...
A total freeze (mouse, keypad buttons,... everything)....
I set up new Windows 3 times, with 2 full formats to the whole hard disk drives.. I ensured that the computer is virus free.. Still the problem persists.. I tried 3 different Anti-virus programs with different configurations..
When I asked for assistance.. they told me it's a software problem, because if it was a hardware problem u wouldn't have been connected from the beginning... but still i am not convinced...
Is it the Network Card? "How much does it cost to buy a new one?" Do I have a problem with my mother board? I have searched in the Internet, I read something abt BIOS.. whats BIOS?
By the way, I defined my network card drivers several times from the device manager thingy, but still problem couldn't be resolved!
my experiments to overcome such problem were all in vain.. I rly need your help...
Thank You so much, and please excuse my language...
yours,
Ahmed, from Cairo, Egypt..
