Password for? Windows XP, Vista? Is it a password for a user accout? I'm not real clear on what you're asking.

As a general rule, we don't offer advice on how to reset/unlock admin passwords, which I'm assuming that's what you need.

hi yes its the pass word when you start up windows xp after start up you get the blue line going back and forward then the home screen that is where he has his password its just to keep us of our computer

As Mep has stated, it breaks the Forum rules to discuss breaking passwords. The reason being we have no way of knowing your true intent on why you need the password even though your question seems reasonable.
Can you not get in touch with your son to ask for it.

he wont tell us as he has fallen out with his sister i know it is hard for u to tell me how to do thanks can you tell me can it be done i will try and get it sorted out

well, yes it can be done... that is where that fun little word "hack" comes around. But if your story is true than as a last resort you could always wipe the drive, thus removing the os and the said problem.... but then you have to reinstall everything.
