Two Monitors, Using One.

I want to know if I will be able to use my Desktop with my 20'' Monitor, via DVI to DVI, and also have a DVI to HDMI cable plugged in from my Computer to my 32'' TV. But I don't want to use them at the same time, I would want to switch back and forth.

Thanks.

Have a single VGA cable running out of your computer. Then buy a switchbox that has 2 VGA outputs. You can then connect the converters directly to the switchbox and to the monitor and the TV.

Why? I use to do that when I would use Dual Monitors, I would switch the input between the monitors, until both activated.

Wait what? Yes you switch between the single output and the input. It's basically a router that doesn't split. The 2 links I provided just show the 2 different angles of what looks like the same product. You just put the VGA cable coming from your computer into the middle VGA. Then put the 2 outputs on the left and right side. It is a manual switch that only displays one display at a time.

You don't need to buy anything. I have a solution that I use on Windows XP.

1. Right click on desktop and click on Properties.
2. Click on settings tab and if you have 2 screens plugged in, there should be a 1 and a 2 with a black box around it.
3. When you're NOT using one of the screens, simply uncheck the box where it says "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". That will disable the monitor so there would just be a black screen so you can just turn it off.

Can't you just have the TV set to clone but not use that channel (or w/e you call it on your TV). This way, it'll always be sending the signal to the TV, but you just won't be on the right channel or setting to watch it.
