$90 for this computer- good deal or bad deal??

More specs please??? What kind of 2.5 ghz CPU is it? what kind of HDD is it? SATA, IDE? what kind of RAM is it? DDR, DDR2, DDR3? How fast is the ram?

Well, to put it simply, we need to know a little more about the parts. But, really, you could buy it for $90 since it isn't THAT much, and if it really does suck then you can jsut salvage the parts(if their any good that is). I dunno, whatever you want to do.

thank you for your help everyone.

if everything was at the low end of the spectrum, what does that exactly mean? does it mean it will run slow? does it mean it will break down easy?

seriously? i can seriously get something better for the same price? but how? i need to make my own after buying parts from newegg.com or something right?

i'm currently on a p4@3ghz with 1gb of ram and a 7200rpm hard drive, and it will get torn to shreds by a c2d@2ghz

^^ Would a E6300 beat it???? (Pointing out the obvious.. :P)

Yea P4's are really outdated yet I can see their 3.8gHz version selling at $800 on NCIX for some strange reason.

man i thought i was some what tech savvy but i guess i am not even close.

i thought ghz were just ghz and ram was just ram. i didnt know different brands made such a huge difference (is it different brands.. or different type of processor, i dont even know)

ghz is just ghz when you're comparing within the same generation of CPU's with the same amount of cores and L2 cache. For example, the E6600 is faster than the E6300 because it has a faster clock speed.

HOWEVER, you cannot compared ghz across generations. P4's use netburst architecture while C2D's use the new core architecture. Now I do not know the details in the difference, but I do know that the core architecture is much more efficient per cycle than netburst. Thus, a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo would blow out a 2.4ghz P4.

i am seriously considering building my own computer. i mean if its that cost efficient..

i think i can put it together myself, after its not like i need to solder anything or anything. and i have done little installation jobs on my computer before like installing cd drive, graphics card etc.
The only thing that troubles me is i dont know what parts to buy if i want a good deal for $100.

Was there any threads made by someone that gives out suggestions for which parts to buy for this price range?

not officially no, those haven't been updated for over a year. Just state a budget and people will help you put together a list of parts.
