Adobe CS3 on Fedora Core 9 uner Wine 1.0

Thought i'd post this in here, i dont often ask questions, but im getting a bit desperate on this one...

----------

Hi all, ok so i know all about the non-support that wine has for CS2 and 3 at the current moment. Thats doesnt stop one from trying.

Trying to get the full Masters Collection CS3 suite installed on my fc9 rig running wine 1.0

straight out of the box the installer would crash with the error "ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE". Wine reports error returned 1603 with several complaints about "fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet"

I followed through a few things to try and resolve this, fist of all, added "gdiplus.dll" into Wine libraries under winecfg, set as native then builtin.

Second was to update microsofts XML parser, using msxml3.msi, install that under wine to the wine C: drive, seems to have helped...

The adobe installer now starts up, runs through its setup initialize bits, that box disappears, as it should, but nothing else comes up, wine has not exited, the finishing line is "fixme:shdocvw:ClOleCommandTarget_Exec (0x197f6c)->((null) 21 2 (nil) (nil))"

So now im fresh out of ideas, hoping some fo the more experienced bods can help me out.

Cheers in advance, Dave

My thoughts Dragon ?
It just won't work, i myself have pushed various applications through wine ending in crashes... that applies to CS1. CS1 (8 to be precise) works but crashes every second.
Now since you said Adobe Master Collection, i just know it won't work, but why not try just a standalone Adobe (program) not the suite. like a standalone Photoshop cs3 ?

Just like office.. 2003 works but buggy as hell, 2000 works great......

I say the answer is no, unless you go through a lot of trouble and copy a lot of registry/other files from a Windows install of it.

the Adobe Master Collection CS3 is only for windows and mac os. Unless you want to rewrite the source code for linux.
Yes, thanks for that...

Yeh, im starting to think that, i've heard a lot about the current release of wine not supporting a hell of a lot fot he features that the CS3 installers and apps alike use when they are run. They're working on it aparently. Most other people i speak to give up too easily, i've seen one person get it working, but he was a programmer experienced in both linux environments and windows.

I don't mind it being a lot of trouble, waht fun is linux if you dont have to work 28 hour days to get programs to install, haha...

My reasoning, if one person got it to work (and under Fedora Core 9 aswell) then why cant more peopel, me included, im not dumb, but i have come to the end of my linux knowledge.

I'm asking in lots of different places, including a lot fo linux forums, if i get any mroe info i'll update this thread.

cheers for the input guys
