making my new computer OS only (windows xp)

I will be picking up a new laptop tomorrow. I want to eliminate all the pre-installed junk and have just Windows XP on the machine. The laptop does not come with a Windows disk so how can I do this? Thanks.

and then you can do custom install and watch all the unecessary bloat disappear.....its mindblowing how much crap they try to sneak onto retail computers.
 
Not so fast, guys.
This depends on the laptop... don't forget that lots of new ones have hardware that doesn't have XP driver support. If it's a brand new one, you might need to use Vista.
What's the laptop model?

forgot about that...but what about using 64-bit xp..I recall something bout xp pro 64..

As far as driver support is concerned, XP 64 is even worse than XP 32 and ain't worth going for, you'll never find the drivers for it...

ahh..maybe thats what I was remembering...I've used vista for so long..both beta and retail that I nearly have forgotten xp support related stuff.
