converter for most laptop hard drive?

looking for some sort of converter so these hard-drives dont go to waste on the laptops that dont work anymore at my house. I use sata hard drives in the pc i currently have but i was looking for some sort of usb adapter that could connect to the back of the old laptop hard drives i have laying around. ones a ibm travelstar 40 gig model : IC25N050ATCS04-0 The other im not sure of yet still prying open this dam laptop. But anyways yeah let me know if anyone finds anything...not sure if this is one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156015 i found on newegg but if someone could tell me if this would work that would be great!!

Well that is how i made my external hard drive, bought laptop hard drive and an enclosure and done :)

All you would need is a external hard drive enclosure, just make sure it IDE / SATA depends on what the laptop hard drive is. The enclosures are cheap now days.
 
ah cool i didnt know you could buy the enclosures that would be great.. i guess ill check newegg or something and see if i can find one but i wouldn't mind suggestions either!

Newegg have them really cheap, but it depends on the case of course. I think they are about $10 or something.
 
Maplin Electronics (UK site but similar thing should be available overseas) sells a USB desk dock for 2.5 and 3.5 SATA hard drives.
