Cannot play streaming videos in Vista

Hi Frnds:

I have a problem and I think its with Windows media player 11. Using my personal laptop(Vista home edition, windows media player 11) i tried to watch some online streaming videos, but it didnt play. I tried both IE7 and Firefox, still no sign of the video. I also installed the add ons on both the browsers but it didnt pass.

Then I used my other laptop (windows 2000, windows media player 10) and I can watch the video.

Please help me on this issue.
My personal laptop's configuration is:

Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1)
32 bit OS
Internet explorer 7/Firefox 2.0
windows media player 11


Any suggestions/ideas are really appreciated
 
Try upgrading firefox to version 3 which was released about one or two months ago. But i don't think that will fix the problem.
You could try to look on the microsoft's download page for fixes...wmp11 has many bugs (that's why i prefer winamp or itunes)

Hi Chibicitiberiu, thnx for ur response. I upgraded firefox to ver.3 and downloaded the updates from Microsoft but still I cant play..:(
 
Java runtime installed? Active x controls, Adobe Flash Player, etc. These are all common items that need to go in order watch online videos. Even Apple's QuickTime provides certain elements often needed. Java is free at http://www.java.com/en/

One thing noted about WMP in Vista is MS's list of 3rd party plugins like Cyberlink's PowerDVD and Roxio's own Cinema Player DVD encoder seen at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx

Also make sure to check the security settings in IE 7 for allowing cd content and other things that need to be enabled.
