Long story short, my computer reboots right before windows starts. Tried memory test and stuff, running an ASUS M2NE SLI deluxe mobo.

Have you tried opening up your case and taking a look at your heatsink? Sometimes dust and garbage gets into your fans and heatsink and chokes out the air flow so your processor begins to overheat. If that is the problem use a can of compressed air to clean out the inside of your system.

But you may also have corrupted boot files.

If all else fails, you may have to Re-Install the OS if it continues that.

As the computer is booting up, press F8 fast and you'll get a menu for safe-mode and all that. Somewhere towards the bottom there should be a setting "Disable automatic reboot" or something like that. Do that, and reboot the computer. Now, when XP tries to boot it should blue-screen and you can google the error you're getting to narrow down what the issue is. Once you figure it out, reboot and press F8 to go into safe-mode and fix the problem.

Good advice by Bullzi.

Not all XP setups will give this option though. I would try his suggestion first, but if you don't see this option try loading up into safe mode to see if it can even do this. If it can, the problem is fixable. If it can't, it's likely a hard drive issue.

Every install of XP I've seen has it, SP2 and on that is. If he's running SP1 we have other issues :D.

But yea I agree with what you said about the HDD issue.

If you can afford it, checkout a program called spinrite. I highly recommend it...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have opened the case and cleaned, also I tried taking the sound card out and using a different video card etc., along with another hard drive as master with xp from another machine. I can't presently afford spinrite, but it looks great. I forgot to mention that I'm running Vista 64-bit
