I have been using a logitech marble trackball and the old keyboard from my first computer (micron) that I bought back in 99' and want to get something better.I know wireless doesnt work well for gaming so I guess wired ones, laser or optical?

lol my keyboard is 1 yr older and i still use it on my newer pc :D. It's from my compaq 1998 pc (intel p2 400 mhz 128 mb ram ati rage 3d vcard with 4 mb). The spacebar is split in two, the left side is Backspace and the right side is space.

I recommend a wired one, not a wireless one because the radiations could drive you crazy if you spend lots of time on the pc. And a mouse with laser would be best, 'cause it is more reliable than with marble (my old compaq marble mouse didn't work to well)

Yeah hehe I have read about all the problems wireless have and how hard they are on batteries is laser faster than the optical?

I have a small wireless mouse, used it a day than switched back to wired one. After few more days (like two or three) after that, i tried turning it on and it didn't worked. I think the battery's dead, but never tried it again :D

Yeah I guess it would be too tiring to replace batteries every week or two .Would get old quick.

Uhhhm... I have the microsoft wireless desktop 4000 and its awesome for gaming, not to mention since December I've only had to replace the batteries once...

Just foor for thought before bashing wireless, if you get a good set there's zero difference from wired.

Hmm, it depends on the batteries, on the mouse and how many hours do you use the pc per day.
Simply prefer wired mice :D, no more money spent on batteries, no more headaches, no more trouble.

It really doesn't matter the type of batteries, the plain jane duracells that came with it lasted until june. As for long its been on? I have not turned off my computer for any real length time since November when I built it, so the mouse and keyboard are constantly on and get used A LOT when I'm working or gaming.

I use a Saitek Eclipse (original one) for my keyboard, it's backlit and it works.
My Logitech LX7 mouse has awesome battery life (had the "low battery" light on for a month and still worked fine). Wireless is really no longer laggy like it used to be, I don't notice a single bit of lag from it. Also the LX7 doesn't have a red laser, its just an invisible light.

Hey , ok the best possible gaming keyboard and mouse in my opinion is

Keyboard:
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse:
Either a Logitech MX revolution or VX revolution

the keyboard is wireless , but the mouse/s are both wireless and laser , the MX is more for a desktop computer and the VX is more portable and is a more of a laptop mouse ( its is a lot bigger than a normal laptop mouse and is quite comfortable ), the mouse/s though is/are very good despite the fact that they are wireless , i have found absolutely no problems with any of them.

You can recommend a mouse to someone, everyone has different styles of holding and different size hands. There are tons of mic out there for people to pick out, It can be kind of frustrating. First you will need to know about for style, are you a low sens or high sens player. Do you finger tip you mouse meaning do you more the mouse with your fingers, do you palm grip your mouse or claw your mouse this is very important when choosing your mouse. Another thing to look for is size of the mouse and your hand, you don't want to buy something online and then when it arrives at your and and you open and you see that its too small or too big for your hand. What I suggest first is going to best buy or circuit city and test the mice they got on display when you see something that matches your style and it feels great, then order online since best buy and circuit city prices are higher then newegg's prices. As for keyboards its all the same, some keyboards take less to press and some more to press it only comes down to about 1 m/s maybe less. You wont be able to notice the difference.

Wrong... The G15 is wired, and the Revoloutions are not gaming mice. Best gaming keyboard imo is the old G15(check ebay for a new one) and the G5/G9 gaming mice.

EDIT: and just some clarification to some people, optical and laser mice arent the same. Laser has an invisible laser, optical has an LED light you can see, both have their strengths and weaknesses;)

Well not every laser mouse is better than optical and vise versa. I know logitech laser mice such as the g5, g7 and g9 have great laser sensors. On the other hand Razer Lathesis laser sensor is just terrible. For anyone who says laser is better than optical is wrong since I have experienced every mouse possible. It also depends on the mouse pad. I prefer optical you can't go wrong, accuracy is also great with optical. Everyone has their likes and dislikes.

Yep I bought the G9 and I love the feel it has, very good for claw grip and it glides very smooth.Weight system seems like it helps a little bit on control but maybe not overly much.I have been reading about laser not tracking as good as optical but I dont notice any skipping myself so it may be personal prefernce. It actually seems like it tracks better than my trackball.

Of course the g9 will track better than a trackball mouse. I switched from my logitech wingman gaming ball mouse to a optical mouse there was a difference, but when you have played with a ball mouse like me and mastered it and then you go to a optical mouse I just couldn't get used to it. I wish I havn't sold it since the mouse its soo rare oh well, plus I can't find a ball mouse only Razer Boomslang 2100 but there hard to find also.
