I was thinking about getting and EEEpc, but I didn't like how you got a small solid state with it. Then I saw this acer.

What I'm wondering is if I can put this G.Skill 2GB dual channel kit in it. I know I can expand this laptop to 2GB, but I don't know if it can use dual channel. If it can't use dual channel will the RAM just not work at all?

Here's the RAM

It'll work perfectly fine regardless if the motherboard supports dual channel or not. The ram is labled dual channel because they come in exact pairs, otherwise it's just a marketing thing.

Hey, Im looking for a laptop in the 300-500 range and i found the Eee PC and i liked it. You said you didnt like the small solid state, what is that?

The Acer Web book  defo best buy for a web book, tiney and at the same time you dont even know its a web book! Eee PC  bit rubbish. Go for the acer best buy right know

Eee PC is a :( no
Acer is good to go. :)

If it does what you want, then yeah. Great they've not put Vista on that Atom processor!

If it's a lite version of Linux (I think it is judging by this page), then it should do things like web browsing fine. You could even use Google Docs to have online Office and stuff.

I used one in a PC World store the other day (I know, returning a broken HD3650), and it seems fairly zippy online, but trying to play back flash videos on web pages was a bit of a pain. Maybe that'll change?

yeah they cant include flash, java, mp3 or wma support by default, because they are patented and so not allowed to be disttibuted with GNU software, thats why ubuntu doesnt have them by default, however they are fairly easy to install.

Solid State drives are basically flash memory and are generally faster than standard HDD. They are also very expensive($599 for a 132g for the good ones) and have a lot less capacity. Very durable though with no moving parts.
