It's Important That I know...And Not Based On Opinion

As i said earlier, XP 64 bit edition isnt XP, its server 2003 under the hood. Stable, but driver support is poor.

How about this...would it be more cost effective and slightly better to my advantage to have this machine running the same OS that comes w/ mac's?? Hmmmm =-)..and where can I buy it...it's leopard right?

If you're thinking about installing Mac OS on a PC, no can do, you can only run Mac OS on a Mac (well there is a way to circumvent this, but technically it's illegal, so we can't go into that here...)

Im talking about installing a mac OS on a hard drive that communicates w/ a montherboard through sata cables...=-)
If the drive is attached to a Mac, then it's fine. If it's attached to a PC, you can't do it unless you are willing to break the law.

He might be willing.

I dont think its worth it though. Switching to a different OS isnt going to give you better recording quality all of the sudden. lol

I still say to reasearch what is going to work in Vista. Which should be most of it. Specially with all the similiar programs you have. A lot of programs and ahrdware have patches/updates/fixes for vista, and a lot of companies are moving towards vista and dropping xp support.

I wouldnt go for 32gigs of ram, cause thats going to cost a lot. 16 gigs should be fine for all the vsts youll have loaded up. 4gigs works for me, and thats with miroslav loaded. About 5-15 channels, and each channel has anywhere from 1-16 instruments being played/recorded in it. Ezdrummer or BFD, depending on the song, but drum midis can take up lots of ram. But 4gigs so far has been enough to handle it all flawlessly.

^^Those vsti's are small..the ones I used when unpacked..the librarys alone are 16 gb, not including the intergration players...trust me 32gb support would be lovely

BFD isnt too small lol. Miroslav is 10gigs. Vocaloid is about 10gigs too. I have a lot more. Over 500gigs of library. Im glad 500gig drives are cheap now. lol. I think MOTU and Prima are some of my favorite stuff to work with.

32gig would be nice, but youll be pushing $2k to get it. 16gig kits are only $500ish. But if you want to go all out, go for it.

^^ Yeah I hear you man...but I need the 32gb support bro..

Especially running waves diamond ...it's like 8 dvds long packed....need those mastering tools my friend...

so im going to try and make this all it can be...=-)...dual processors, 32 gb's of R.A.M and 6 500gb hard drives....we use a 500gb hard drive ever 40 sessions man...haha...

there is a supermicro board somewhere along the lines that can support 32gb's of ram, has like 8 sata ports, and can support dual e54xx processors, i would say the e5410's if you're on a really strict budget

First you have to determine what Motherboard/CPU/How many harddrives/Video card/CD/DVD drives and acc. your going to be running to know how many watts and amps your P/S will need.
