Looks like a solid build.

Only thing I'm going to suggest is to get a Q6600. There are very few games that will not use all 4 cores, most older games will still use 2 if not all 4 cores and games are currently being released that will support quad cores. Not to mention, with a good cooler you can OC to 3Ghz easily and beyond.

Other than that, it looks freakin sweet.

Okay since I can get a better case at a discount with the quad core here is my dilema!

This
case

processor

or this

case(this case is alot better for cooling right?)

processor(I am scared I think the other processor might be a better choice as I play alot of old games somtimes)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

I get 60 dollars off on the 2nd choice which would make them pretty much the same price.

Like if I get the quad I am going to want to overclock but as for the E8500 I don't think I really need to overclock it. Which would mean I would need extra cooling for the quad or wait with that case you think my card and overclocked quad would be fine? Gah i'm just talking out of my ass. It's simple choices like these that make me a helpless blob.

There are very few games that will not use all 4 cores,

Actually at the moment most games do not use for cores, which is why right now the C2D's have a slight advantage for gaming. BUT in the future many games will be multi-core optimized. The E8400 or the Q6600 are both very good choices.

But for the extra 10 bux don't you think the
E8500 is an even better choice :) ?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115036
also the e8500 has 1333 fsb and the quad is 1066 fsb

I don't have much experience with overclocking is that other case that combos with the quad better? I know the GFX card I am picking runs ridiculously hot so I may need an extra fan with the Antec 900? I really want my system to run as cool as possible. If I get the E8500 won't it run fine without overclocking and still pretty much be as good if not better then the quad for normal applications/games? On the antec 900 someone was telling me I should get an extra fan on the side for my game card? I don't know where to look or what to get I got everything from here but any further I am a vegetable and a newbie.

It may be future proof, but future proof of what???
both the same price
E8500 | Q6600
3.16GHz | 2.4GHz
1333MHz | 1066MHz
L2 6mb | L2 4mb

Won't I see more performance(on most things) on the dual core rather then the/that quad core?

I mean I am not expert but my brain and gut are telling me to go dual core as I already have problems optimizing "older" games for dual core. On the otherhand your probably right is this case alot better then the antec 900?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103019

and will I be able to overclock the quad core to 3.0ghz on air, without any extra fans? It seems that case has all the fans I ever would need? I'm still concerned that I may be able to fry eggs on top of my computer with that x2 card. When it comes to things like this I have OCD and it must be PERFECT! :)

You aren't going to see huge performance difference between the E8400 and the Q6600. However as newer games come out you may see quad core pull ahead. Both are great CPU's for the money though, and you won't be disappointed with either. Yes the Q6600 will easily hit 3.0 GHz on air, and with the Antec 900 you will have more than enough cooling.

Some of those parts are alright, if you were going to go for a dual core for gaming, it would be there E8400.

For a quad, with that budget, you can get the Q9450 if you wanted to!

As for Vista, Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

With that budget, i can do you a build.

I'll do one now for you.

solid build but i think you can get a cheaper thermal compound autoboot are you going you going to have ant songs or movies or programs on there and i think the antec 900 will be fine

Mustardsky I already realize that but arctic 5 thermal compound is the best out and you dont want to be cheap with thermal compounds...

meh I haven't even gotten started just been hovering around newegg and these forums, going out to eat in a min and possibly might be able to build rig finally if no friends on xbox live

Sorry for double post but seeya l8er every1 gotta go eat out at village inn and i hope you like my build TS (thread starter)

Budget = $1,600

Total - No rebates - $1,606.92
Total - After rebates - $1,546.92
Total saving on rebates - $60.00

This is a good build.

To save money, you could drop the video card to this.

I hope this helps.
