First Time Building a Gaming computer need Help!

Budget = $1,600

Total - No rebates - $1,606.92

I don't think that power supply can support that monster graphics card ^^^ am I right?

Actually at the moment most games do not use for cores, which is why right now the C2D's have a slight advantage for gaming. BUT in the future many games will be multi-core optimized. The E8400 or the Q6600 are both very good choices.

The only game I play that wont, is GRAW. BF2, CSS, TF2, DOD:S, COD4, Crysis, FFOW, DiRT, UT3, Stalker, BF2142, NFS:Carbon and FEAR all use my 4 cores.

AUTOBOOT don't go quad, trust me, it's not really worth it, plus you can upgrade later if they start making new software, games, etc. Just think about it for awhile, Cohen made a very solid build but I just am not too fond of quad atm plus my CPU is 45 nm!

PS: Forget the part about 45 nm -.- maybe I should of actually looked at CPU before talking, but still I'm saying stick to dual!

Why stay dual?? Games are already being developed for quad core, there's absolutely no point in staying dual right now.

most games now take 4 cores

Mustardsky I like ya but that is a straight-up bull-faced lie, sorry but it really is, crysis doesn't even take all four cores. I really don't mean to sound rude or make you look like an idiot, and I'm not trying to, so please don't take this personally.

but why go quad i understand that games use 4 cores but is it perfromance is that why you should go quad if your playing games and don't worry beatem everybody has its own opinion

Well that's odd, it sure does on mine.

There isn't any point in staying dual though, the difference between an E8400 and Q6600 is a matter of like 10 bucks, it's totally worth it. Even if the game doesn't use 4 cores, can you think of a game that would max out two cores?? I sure can't..

Shouldn't have any problems.

i agree with you. sure most programs including games dont utilize all four cores but in the future they will. so why not future proof your computer for a couple years. not to mention if your video editing then you will need those four cores.

Alright Alright I admit you make some very good points about quad but as for me I'm sticking with AMD because that is all I need for my games or I could go duo.... just the freaking motherboard prices are skyrocketed.

Last time I checked that video game card needed a minimum high quality 1000 watt system. Are you positive??? That power supply will work?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102768 I don't know the exact wattage or anything but I heard rumours it uses ALOOOT since it's really almost 2 cards in one
and it will work on this power supply???

according to my friend I need at least a high quality 1000 watt?

I save 100 bux in that comparison going dual honestly if I could get a 4 ghz single core I would because dual core+ sucks ass when I try to play older games.

It'll run just fine on the 750. Dual 4870 in crossfire recommend a good 600W and dual cards draw more than a single w/ dual GPU's. So yea, that Corsair PSU will work just fine.

And for CPU, get the quad, hands down.
