Acer Monitor

I just bought a new Acer 1916w monitor and am trying to set it up with my Dell Optipex GX260 with no luck. The computer is listing the monitor as plug and play, and I can't download the acer driver. I've actually taken a few steps back and can only set the screen now to 832x 624 resolution. Any help would be appreciated. I've spent a long time on this an gotten nowhere.

You want to get a higher resolution on it? Or you want it to be seen as the actual monitor, and not plug and play?

If resolution - download video drivers, not monitor drivers.

If monitor - did it come with a disc?

I need to change the resolution to get the monitor to display things without distorting them, and can't do that at the moment. I was also hoping that changing the resolution would eliminate some of the fuzziness. I wasn't able to figure out what video driver I needed, and wasn't able to install the Acer monitor driver. I don't think the monitor driver is on the disc. I was trying to use the one provided at the Acer website.

I have the exact same monitor. For me, it was just plug it in, and turn my comp on. Windows XP did the rest with finding the driver and setting the resolution to 1440x900. Ive never even touched the cd that came with it.

Have you tried just letting windows find the driver for it. Let it connect if it asks you.

I want to say I was able to set the right resolution when I firs added the monitor to the computer. Then at some point, without me trying anything, that resolution choice was no longer available. Then I did try to let windows download the driver automatically, the 1440 x 900 still wasn't an option. I tried to manually download a driver from the Dell site, and now I just have the one choice of resolution 832 x 624.

i didnt read the whole thread so maybe someone else said this already, but this is a problem with your video driver. you dont need a monitor driver in windows.
