Re-installing windows

Well I placed the order for the Seagate HDD and two copies of Vista Home Premium. I'm done messing with this pirated crap. Thanks for the help.

Last year, I paid over $300 for my copy Ultimate. I mean, you can easily download this stuff, but I do honestly feel better about owning a legit copy. :)

$100 is worth it to avoid the aggravation of trying to find a copy. at least I was able to get my school work done and got to experience Vista. I heard so many bad things about Vista but I actually like it better then XP.

Agreed. I edited the bad stuff out of your post. :P

When I install this new HDD, it will recognize the brand of the laptop and I just install the drivers for that model of computer?

You shouldn't need to install drivers, and yes, the BIOS will recognize the HD and Vista does not need SATA drivers when you install the OS. Before you install the OS, after you physically install the new HD, enter the BIOS and make sure your CD/DVD drive is set to boot first in the boot priority menu.

I was talking about sound and video drivers but that wouldn't come till after Windows is loaded anyways.

Well they were out of the Seagate HDD so i got a 320 GB, Western Digital 7200 RPM HDD for the same price. Got everything hooked up and it works great.

Before you begin, gather your Windows and application CD-ROMs. Back up your data files (just to be safe), and then clear two days off your calendar.

2 days off your calendar?

Are you re-coding the operating system too?

Max. this whole procedure should take is 3-4 hours..to re-install, do drivers, updates, security..blah..

2 DAys....lol
