Recommend Me A Laptop Under US$2000

Hey guys, I joined this forum because I was just in a few electronics websites, and realized that I have NO idea what to look for in a computer.

I need a new laptop. I'm currently in college doing architecture so it must be fast and able to run a lot of programs (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, CAD, etc.) with no problems. It must NOT CRASH.
I want it to last me a while (3+ years if possible) and have decent battery life.

All my teachers use Macbooks, so I was looking at them, but I think there might be something better and cheaper without the Apple logo on it. My price range is USD2000.

Thanks! :D
it must not crashed= mac. Prehaps the macbook pro.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! I was just in the Apple website and noticed that if I buy the 13-inch black Macbook and upgrade it to 4GB memory and a 3-year warranty it would have more memory than a Pro and still be cheaper. Would this be a smart buy? Or am I missing something important?

As far as your question about the 13 inch macbook......Memory isnt everything im pretty sure the macbook pro has a better cpu and graphics card but i could be wrong.

Yes, but the more memory the better :P, the more programs you can have and the more it won't lag....

Yes macbook pros, have a very good CPU, up 2.6GHZ Dual Core (intel), and graphics card is a nice 512MB one.

That is what i found our while researching for a friend... about 6 months or so ago, i know they still only go up to 2.6GHZ dual.... but they might have a better graphics card now :)
