Should I get more video cards?

Hey gang,
I'm thinking about upgrading my computer.

I just got it less than a month ago and it's roughly a 1400 rig, not including monitors.

Right now I'm doing 2X MSI Radeon HD 3870 on Crossfire.

Link there to the stats on it.

I'm thinking about buying 2 more of them and running all 4 on crossfire, but I'm just wondering if I"ll see much of an increase in games.

My motherboard is the ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe/WIFI

Video review from tiger-tv.

It says that my first 2 cards will run at X16, but if I add 2 more they'll only run at X8, is that really so much of a difference?

And does anybody have any numbers or a way to check how many more FPS or what not I'd get with the upgrade?

Are the cards I have worth getting more of, or would it be better to just wait and get newer cards as more demanding games emerge?

I'm also thinking about getting a few more Monitors, make sort of a super-rig with 8 monitors blazing at the same time, but I'll wait a good 4-8 years for that.

i've read somewhere that the 3rd and 4th card in XF only have 10%-20% increase in performance.

Waste of money. Don't even get near that. 170+170 = 340$.

If you want to upgrade, Sell both your cards for 130 each. thats 260 in your pocket.

340+260= $600.

Go buy yourself a 4870 x2. Which can do dual monitors. I don't see a point in 8 monitors unless you have the ability to watch 8 movies at a time. (Impressive) That 4870 x2 will run everything out there with no lag. Problem solved.

I can use roughly 4-6 monitors. 1 for microsoft word, 2 for research for papers. (3 for school stuff.) 1 for instant messenger, 1 for a movie.

I'm a skilled multitasker, but when it comes to doing just one thing I'm terrible, right now I'm watching television, writing this, listening to music, researching stuff for Psych 207, and eating.

But yeah, I'll probably just wait and upgrade, there's no need for me to try to get more cards, I can already run Crysis on HIGH with no lag at all, roughly 60 fps. I can play F.E.A.R. at 100FPS. :)

there is a 3870x2 nonreferance card by asus if you're after just the moniters, you could get a pair of those instead, 4 dvi ports a piece that way

more video cards is always a good thing. more more more!

is it wise? no. does it give you bragging rights? yes!

Thats horrible advice!!

And that wont give you bragging rights that will give you alot of heat and a huge hole in your wallet.

..Sell the 2 you got get a single 4870

or an x2.
