Don't know what's wrong with my computer

New Member
My computer still locks up when playing games, virus scans and sometimes when been on for several hours. Can anyone help me?

PC specs
2.66 GHz Pentium 4 CPU
80Gb HD (17Gb free)
2Gb RAM (upgraded from 512Mb)
500w external PSU (old internal PSU was faulty)
Microsoft XP SP3
ATI Radeon 9600/9550/X1050 series graphics card

and no its been playing up when i had SP2.

Those temps seem normal the motherboard mite be a bit hot, but otherwise their fine. You said your in first post that it locks up during virus scans, it mite be a security issue.

Please start a thread in the Computer Security section of the forum. Please start by reading This notice.

After reading and doing what the notice says please do this afterward.

Please download and post a log with HiJackThis.

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
 
I did a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it found 1 problem so that is done.
