so i plan on building my first computer this next month or so and ive done my research and i have came up with a few specs but the most difficult choice i have is choosing my gpu. since im new to this it would be great for some advice.

these are the specs im looking at:

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
mobo - ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI
RAM - 4gb (2x 2gb)

like i said the gpu is the difficult part what would perform better two EVGA GeForce 9800 GT running in sli or one XFX GeForce GTX 260?

i have a total budget of $1000 but with the specs i have right now im looking at spending $300 on the gpu(s). should i spend more on my cpu and less on my gpu? help with anything would be appreciated.

Hey bud, the ASUS P5K PRO is P35 intel/crossfire board...why dont you look at an ati 4800-series gpu to go with your setup.?>

Your cpu is good! e8400 is a stellar chip.

Ram is good in 4GB quantity..look for OCZ pc-8000 or 8500 platinum...4gb will be bout 100 bucks

Hey man, don't worry..there are a billion different boards and its easy to mistake one or the other.

If you got Nvidia I'd look for a 780 or 790 chipset but that one is not bad and priced well.

I personally like ATI, but its all preference...If you choose ATI I'd recommend an x48 chip board. ASus and EVGA both have a number of great ones.

No, you bought an Nvidia chipset board, so you can SLi later on. Don't get an ATi and then when you decide to SLi, you would have to buy 2 cards.

i know

i know. that's what im asking... Would i get better performance from two EVGA GeForce 9800 GT or just one XFX GeForce GTX 260. thats is what im really wondering
