Woundering How Good This Computer Is

[shawn_selig29]

hi guys, i seen this computer is on sale at wallmart anniversary sale:

http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=H5270

i was thinking about getting it for my brother. he plays games like gta: san andreas and need for speed pro street. i was woundering if tis computer would be able to handle it?... and i was woundering how good the integrated card is and if it would support aero. thxs, shawn

[Gareth]

It may handle GTA, but most likely not Pro Street. However, if you put a dedicated video card, such as an 8800GS/9600GSO, Upgrade the power supply (as emachine ones are poor quality and cant handle dedicated cards) and upgrade the RAM to 2GB, I am sure it will do rather well and handle the games listed.

Might as well just build one. (Maybe I'm just too much of a DIYer)

If you aren't comfortable with that I'm sure I, or someone else here, can try to find a good pre-built one for you. As Gareth said, you will need to upgrade it if you buy that one in order to play those games.

dont go with the one you chose, you would want at least
2gb RAM
8800gt

i got the computer (i had it bought before i seen these....)... thought it was too good of a deal....so i got a ram upgrade to 1.5gb.... and i guess i will look at a cheaper video card (he doesnt need a big video card.... he is use to using my desktop which runs a nvidia geforce 6800.....so ni just need a good price pci-e...and i guess you guys say i need a power supply?... it hasnt been openeed yet as it wont be till xmas...thxs, shawn

I'd go for a 8800GT/OCZ 600W combo.

i wounder what the integrated in it it would compare to what card...like a nvidia geforce 6000?....etc.....i also wounder if it would support aero glass...thxs, shawn

I'd go for a 8800GT/OCZ 600W combo.

I agree, you might not want to push it with the integrated video. And if you get a card definitely get a new PSU before you use it for any gaming i have blown at least 3 e machine power supplies

i dont know i have a sata and a 40gig ide hard drive, 2.1ghz sempron, overclocked 8600gt, and a dvd/cd drive and a gig of ram all on a stock 300w emachine psu lol

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH your funny shawn. That computer completely sucks.

Oh and, if you plan on running integrated graphics... um well... THEY CRAP OUT FAST. My old Dell Demension 3000, use to be kick-ass when I first bought it 4 years ago. Now it can't even run 2D games without lagging and getting bad FPS

EDIT: I didn't see the post where you said you already bought it

I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of money on the video card because the PCI-express slot is only set up to run at 8x-not 16x like most computers. Check out this chart to help you find a card that is priced right-http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Best-Graphics-Card,2011-6.htmlDepending on what card you decide on-then you'll know how big of a power supply you need-here is a decent card to look at-http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130378
