a budget of: $350
i need: cpu/mobo/ram/powersupply
already got: case, gfx card, hdd
want to: surf, graphic design (simple photoshop, nothing extensive), basic gaming (world of warcraft, ultima online, maybe counter-strike)

any suggestions y0h? i've searched through newegg over and over and i just can't throw together a decent package because i haven't built a computer in over 6 years so I have no idea about what's worth a shit and what's not. any help is very appreciated!

well i guess the only thing you'd need info on is graphics, this is what i can gather from the card:

LeadTek WinFast Nvidia A360 Ultra 128MB AGP8x

does this change things? it's an old card but worked for my wow setup in a pervious computer... will this intergrate with that mobo?

You wouldn't be willing to get a new card? There are very few motherboards made that still support AGP and you would get a better computer if you just jumped on the PCI-Express bandwagon.

can it be done for the $350 price range? im not planning on duing HEAVY gaming at all, only new games i'll be playing in the next 3 years or so is gonna be Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 lol, and im sure if it comes down to it i can make a comp that'll play both of those (even if they are low-end settings for graphics) thanks for the help so far guys, just needa figure out the graphics and i'll be set!

If you going to be gaming, you going to need a system that runs vista nicely..... and you will need vista...

Also i recommend Intel, overclock it and get more out of your CPU.

Also that graphics card won't be good for gaming... and you have a very tight budget.....

heh, i guess you don't understand what im trying to achieve, a simple gaming setup. i do NOT need vista because i stated i'm not really intrested in getting into any new games, or games coming out in the future, i want to be able to play WoW, CS Source, and UO with ease. that's the extent of gaming (besides SC2/D3 which won't be heavy on computer specs). I don't want vista, never have, i've been satisfied with xp for a long time. does what i need it to.

and as for the graphics card it's perfectly fine for world of warcraft, counter-strike, and uo, which i previously stated is the extent of gaming i will be doing... did you just skim through my posts and reply with the first thing that popped in your head? please read what im trying to achieve before trying to help, thanks ;d

if i can fit a basic gaming setup in the under $350 range i'll be extremely effin happy! :D it seems feesable eh? i don't need anything that's gonna handle todays sickest games! last time imma say that lol, sorry for comin off like a prick but people who make suggestions that are ignorant to my post just annoy me ;/

my reccomendation is to save up some more money at that price your only wasting what little money you have by making a computer no one will want to use

I'm going to assume your case is ATX form factor.

GPU: HD 2600XT

PSU: Antec Basiq 500Watt

RAM: 2GB Kingston

MOBO: Gigabyte DS3L

CPU: E7300

I only threw in 2GB of RAM for this build because for your needs 4GB would go unused unless you photoshop large images often. The gfx card is a good mid-level card that would run games fine. The price is $343 before shipping. Also, there is PLENTY of room for upgrading in the future.

Why not get the e5200 instead?
It'll bring hte price down $50, and it's still a very good & overclockable chip.
With the money saved you could probably get a better graphics card...

He could do that, the e7300 only has a tad more L2 cache which could be outdone by a little higher clockspeed from the e5200 but we don't even know if he is willing to OC at all and if he isn't then the e7300 is definitely a better chip.
