Ok I am hoping to get the following build:

Raidmax Smilodon case with 500W PSU with 1 +12V [email protected]: $80 (after MIB)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156098

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.7GHz: $66

Gigabyte motherboard: $64
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342

Powercolor ATI 3870: $70 (After MIB)

SATA DVD+/-R Burner: $26

SATA Samsung Spintpoint 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache: $55

Kingston 2GB 800MHZ pc6400: $36

Total: $397

Thats about my budget right there, since I'm not allowed to spend more money than I get from my other computer. What do you guys think for that budget? Give me some input on what YOU would pic, please.

Thanks

You might also want to try this CPU and mobo, Intel E2180 for 69.99 and Gigabyte G31M-ES2L for 56.99.
But why? AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ will soundly beat any Pentium at stock speeds. It takes a really big OC for the Pentium to beat the Athlon, not to mention that the combo is more expensive. I would just stick with the AMD CPU, it's a great choice and offers excellent performance for the money.

I wouldn't trust the Raidmax PSU[\QUOTE]

TMIA. But like I said, i might not even get all the money I need. That means I'd be stuck with that PSU. However, my last case (still my case right now, I'm trying to sell it) came from raid max, with a 420W PSU, and it worked pretty good. Has a +12V rail @ 20A. This raidmax will be 500W +12V rail @ 22.5. But only one. And sorry, but I don't like that Antec, AND it has a8.99 shipping, so that brings it to $99 lol.

So lets assume I won't get enough money to get this build. The thing I would first down-grade would be the vid card, cuz it's the best hing I have on there. Would getting the Geforce 8600GTS be a good thing? It costs $45 after MIB.

As for getting intel, I'd like to. But that pentium 20 GHz is not going to be as fast as the 2.7 Athlon 64 X2. And anything better would be getting far to expensive, which frusterates me. Lol, but my last proc was the 4000+, And I was real happy with that

Thanks for your input guys

oh, and whadda ya know? newegg is chargin 28 bucks to ship that case, before it was free!! That make the case $108, and so I checked the NWG grand Total, 465-50 MIB = 415 that's crap!

Take a look at this video card. It is better than the 8600GTS.

MSI R3650-T2D512 OC Radeon HD 3650 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 - $60

The E4600 is not a Pentium
He did say that the 4600 is slower than the Pentium dual-core E5200... yea, I totally forgot about the new 45nm Pentiums, but the Athlon still offers great performance for the value and will win the E2xxx series CPUs in terms of absolute performance (i.e. the 65nm Pentium Dual-Cores).

the 3650 costs 67 bucks with shipping, so that wouldnt even be worth it. And that case doesn't come with a PSU. the other cas that I have picked out, is 50 dollars less, BUT only has a 450W PSU, meaning it wont support my card. That's the problem, and also why I chose the smilodon for 108 after MIR, it has a usable PSU, making it cheaper...but chances are, im not gonna get enough money anyway, so I might have wasted my time with finding those parts :D

The thing is, it is recommended to get a separate PSU, not use the one that comes bundled with the case because they usually explode after some time...

The E4600 is not a Pentium ;)

The Pentium dual core (E2xxx/E5xxx) and Core 2 Duo are based on the same architecture. Intel just use the name "Pentium" for there cheap processors.

And E5200 is faster than E4600
