Whats the highest safe temp for the HD4850 under load? I ask because my GPU fan is too loud @ 60%. I dropped it to 38% and my card hit in the 70s when I benched it on Crysis. What temps are these cards designed to handle?

~45C when Im on skype/browsing internet.

Not just picking on AMD/ATI cards, but all the single slot cards even Nvidias suck as far as cooling. You can crank the fan speed up to get better cooling. But I,ve found just replacing the cooler is the best. Mine dropped from 51c at Idle to 35c just with a better cooler and its even not as loud.

I think its a bug with WAR my comp will randomly crash playing that game, curious if there is anything on their site that mentions this.

Well, that used to happen but they seemed to have fixed it. I dropped my fan speed and played WAR for like 30min. That was my first random crash in a while so I'm guessing it was b/c of overheating GPU though I idle at 45C ._.

Edit:
I just crashed again @ 52C, WAR must be having issues. /sigh

The cards can get pretty high. I wouldnt worry until they are at 100c mark.

The stock coolers work pretty well when the fan is speed is around 50%-70%, but that is just far too loud for me.

I replaced mine with a zalman and that keeps the temps around the same as a stock cooler with a fast fan, but with none of the noise.
