Over the last 6 months, I've heard everything from Sep. '08 to Mar. '09. PC.ign.com seems to go from some random date to TBD about every other week. Moral of the story is, it's a Blizzard game, so it probably won't be for a while yet, and when a concrete time is released, you'll know, everyone will start salavating...
i'm probably going to buy this, if it doesn't sport securom, or atleast the spore version, supposedly red alert 3 is going to have that crap on it, which makes me sad considering west wood only required the cd's and serial number
I just found out that sc2 is going to be release in 3 standalone titles with a new one being released every 6 months, the first one "StarCraft II Terrans: Wings of Liberty". Will only have the terran campaign on it but will use all races online. "StarCraft II Zerg: Heart of the Swarm" and "StarCraft II Protoss: Legacy of the Void". will come after that in that order.
I am not sure if I like the idea of it being three separate games. If they are each $50 that means you need to spend $150 for the whole game. I doubt that the content really requires three separate games because even the original was super long in one game. As in each campaign took you forever to beat.
It is not like Blizzard is hurting for money either with their 8 million WoW subscribers paying $15 per a month to play. Just do the math. They are making serious bank.
I'm not a huge fan of RTS games, but i did enjoy starcraft. Anyway if they do release each game like that I won't buy it. I can understand paying more than 50 dollars MAYBE, but not 150. It's bullshit and they know it...the problem is they also know most people will still buy the game.
There is too many games coming out just this quarter for pc and xbox to justfiy me spending 150 dollars on a game. I wouldnt buy it for the campaign anyway...but its the concept.
I would imagine that the initial release would be 30 or 40 bucks, with the 2 additional parts 20 bucks each. Still is 70 to 80 total, but we'll see, maybe they'll make the 2 additional parts 10 bucks each..., only time will tell!
