Cleaning computer.

How can i get rid of everything on a computer which i am giving to charity.
I don't want to leave any of my programs or files on it.
My new computer which is Vista i can reset it back to when i got it from the shop.
The computer which i am giving away is XP,so how can i reset it back when i got it.
I hope you can understand what i'm trying to do,i'm no good with computers.
PS i have no cd disc for XP.
 
Well since you don't have a windows CD, borrow your buddies or download an untouched copy just to delete windows.

Although i recommend a hard format, it deletes all the 1's and 0's so that way no one will have any of your data.

But if you want to leave the os on it then use system restore to restore back to when you got your computer, i haevn't used this but i'm sure someone else would know how to do it. Otherwise use google. :)

System restore doesnt usually go further than 15 days.... If its activated.



You could download a linux distro and format it from LiveCD.
 
Hi mate,the computer is a few years old will it let me restore it back that far do you know.:)
