First gaming build. No idea where to begin.

I've finally decided to get a new computer since my last one is pretty much on its last leg. A buddy of mine built my first computer and that guy just went school in another state so I have no one but myself to build. And, I have no experience in that, but how hard can it be?

I've never gotten into computer gaming, but from what I've seen from other people's builds I can get a decent gaming computer for the same price as I paid for my last computer which is fairly old.

So, what's the cheapest gaming build to play Farcry 2. Of the games that I want to play, this one looks to be the most demanding so I'll set the bar with this game.

Hard Drive Space : 3.5 GB (Multiple saves and user created maps will increase the amount of needed hard disk space.)

Processor : Intel® Core 2 Duo Family, AMD®64 X2 5200+, AMD® Phenom or better

RAM : 2 GB

Video Card : NVIDIA® 8600 GTS or better, ATI®X1900 or better

I also live near a computer store. Are their gaming computers any good for the price?

I don't have a budget that I could say right now, I'd just like to know what's the cheapest build I could make to play that game with the recommended specs.

I shouldn't limit the hard drive to 3.5gb... I don't think you can even get them at that size.

i recently built a decent comp for my gran which my suit your liking using a Gigabyte M61PME-S2 Motherborad 2GB ram 320gb HDD and few other things for under 700$

To be honest, I don't know much about computers so I'm not 100% sure what those things you just listed are o.O

If you could be more specific like with links to the product or something.

lol, one of my buddies usually did all the computer thinking for me so I'm still learning all this stuff.
