How many fans are recommended for this case?

It comes with three fans built in, but it has room for many more. I'm guessing that filling out all of the fan slots is excessive, but would you recommend getting at least one or two more in there?

I was thinking an 80x80x15 exhaust fan placed at the other side of the CPU on the mobo to cool the other side...I've also seen people recommend placing two exhaust fans on top.

Not that the stock three are having cooling problems, but a little extra cooling never hurt either. =) (Click on the pictures if you want to have a better sense of the case's layout. As I understand it, the front and side fans are intake, and the rear one is exhaust.)

The case lacks any opening on top to see a fan added there. That's something seen with the Antec 900 which sees a 200mm top fan along with twin front 120s and a 120 rear. I added a 120 not included for the side cover here.

The 120s are the way to go since that allows one more for intake on the side cover. You would see more air moved with the larger fan as well as seeing the vent suited for a 120 not 80mm sized fan.

120mm fans are the way to go, like PC eye said. I would personally put two in the side, one on the top, and an exhaust in the back. 80mm fans are ok, but they are noisy and not very effective.

The product information shows that it already comes with one 120 side fan as well as the front and rear fans being included. You would simply add a second 120 on the free top vent seen on the side cover to see 4 fans total.

For the top you would have to cut an opening there in order to see one installed there. The other side however reveals a smaller vent where I think you are coming up with the 80mm size there. That faces the under side of the board however and seems more of an additional vent while you may find mounting holes for an 80mm fan there.

The included 120 for the side is shown on the bottom vent where you would simply add the 4th 120 on the top one. Here the 120 added on the side blows inward for the video card, memory, and simply moving more air around the sound and tuner cards with the rear 120 and top 200 fans taking care of the exhaust for the 900. The small vent on the opposing side could see an exhaust fan there with the 120s used for intake.

People usually mount two fans blowing out the top from within the case, but I'm not sure how they get them to stay there...

smoothjk, PLEASE dont listen to PC eye. He is a joke and never stops saying untrue facts. The case has 2 top fan openings for either two 120 or 140 fans.

Yes it has dust cover for the ones on top as stranglehold said.I think you can also put 1 on the bottom in front of the PSU (blows upward toward your PCI cards).I think it is a nice case.I am either thinking of getting it or the p182 or the p183 if it ever comes out ,myself.

I love the case, suits my needs just fine. Then again, I'm used to the crappiness of OEM systems. ;)

BTW, I realized that I didn't have the front intake fan running at all (you would think the lack of a blue light would tip me off, but nooo). I also installed a smallish fan I had laying around (a weak 92mm Scythe) in one of the top places--thanks Stranglehold for showing me that pic.

Once I got that running, my idle CPU temp dropped from 34C to about 31C. My heavy load temp (Orthos) dropped from 53C to 50C. =) My CPU is overclocked, so I'm pretty happy with these temps.

I think I'm actually not going to worry about adding more fans. If I do, I'll get one for the backside of the mobo/CPU-area as an exhaust.

:D:D Dont feel bad. I've had people bring me their computers that they tried to build and could not get it to see the drives or install windows. (forgot to plug the power connectors in on the drives)

What lame brain fails to point out is the fact that the dust cover also sees the optional audio jacks and usb ports when the dust cover is on.

With those connected and the dust cover inplace up you would have to cut circular openings in order to use the top fans to start with or simply watch that vibrate while warm air is being blown against the underside of that.

The top removable panel is a grill in the middle where then fan slots are on the case, its not solid. Plus he just said he just mounted a fan there. Will you just stop this. Your really making yourself look like your not all there.

That has nothing to do with this.

Absolutely. Nothing.

N.O.T.H.I.N.G.

I cannot even begin to imagine how your mind works. Do you simply just 'not get it', or do you take some form of perverted pleasure from spouting useless shit all day long to whoever will listen to you?

God just set 50 kittens on fire and lobbed them at a group of pre-schoolers after your last post. I hope you're happy.

Useless...

I have this case. And i love it to death, 10x better than an antec 900, just an opinion though. And yea, it has two 120 (possibly 140mm)mm fan vent slots on the top of the case. I have 1 installed right now. I can show a picture if anyone has any questions. I have an LED fan so it shines right through the mesh grill.

I have no idea what you mean by all this. I already installed the fan instead the case by taking off the top cover (yes, the USB/SATA ports were wired to the cover, but I just made sure not to pull them out) and putting the black screw-like thing in from the top into the fan below the mesh. No circular openings had to be cut...the rest is just incomprehensible.

Thanks to the others for giving useful, reliable info.

Imsati, I clicked on that link in your sig, and just wow...never used the words "epic fail" before, but I find that appropriate. Almost funny if it wasn't so damn frustrating to read (I now know to ignore the advice of PCeye completely).

Tip: If you don't have firsthand experience about something and don't really know, why bother posting an answer??
