I was checking out Myspace and computer Forum (:D) before I left for school this morning. But when I came home to check my E-Mail and I turned on my computer, the monitor was not reading the card for some reason.

I don't know what happend but I have done everything I could to fix it; Remove and put the card back in, reconnected the monitor 7 times or more, everything I could have imagined. Now its saying 'check signal cable. I am very concerned on what exacly happend. The card is still running I could feel the fan though the Card, I just dont know what happend! Thanks again all!

Do you have another card or monitor that you know is good ,that you can try from another system? I have had 2 monitors die that way. How old is the monitor?

Monitor is maybe 4 years old? Its works just fine. I switched my bros screen see if it works, I didnt. But when I plugged his screen back in his computer it worked.

I never put my screen on his computer, ill see if its the screen or the card, im kinda worried =/

it might be the cable (not the power one), try plugging your screen into his pc, if it doesnt work try his cable with your screen on his pc.

Yeah I would try that first.4 years about how long I got out of my 2 monitors that burned out on me,a 19" micron CRT and a 19" samsung.Hope its nothing serious ,good luck

Try what dropkickmurphy said, swap VGA cables and see if that shows a problem

Well If you have TS'ed and found it is not the monitor or the VGA cord then you have to look at the video card

Although thinking about it I guess it could also be the PWR cord on your system, try swapping it to your brother's to see if it works.I have never had a Power cord go bad on me before though

Ok so I am home, I did all the options you have all listed for me.

Come to find out it is the card. How? Because I put my screen on my bros computer and now its working. It looks like my card is giving me trouble. So what do I do to fix this problem?

Thanks again

I am not sure if cards can be realistically repaired if that is the problem. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it may be time to put it out to pasture. To be honest a x1950 pro is kinda long in the tooth now anyways so you may just end up getting a new one.I have an old card to that is getting ready to die on me (7600 gs) so I know how you feel.I have been holding back as I want to just build a whole new system. There are some pretty good but economical cards right now so it is a good time to buy

Damn... yeah its time to look for a new card. 8800 GT I hear is selling for $80 bucks

Ok all, I just received the 9500 GT

I plugged it into my computer and... Still nothing

Its the same problem, Screen is black. I dont understand why its still not working! Halp!

My brother come to find out has an intergaited card.

I got the new card and connected it to my bros computer and it works like a charm. Gah!!

You can try taking your Vga(Dvi) cord and placing it on your brothers system and see if it still works. There is something in your comp that is defective and you kinda have to try different things till you narrow it down.Your brother's computer works so when you replace a properly functioning item with the defective item you will know then what the problem is.
