The 920,940 or the 965?

Is it worth while to consider the 940 or the 965 considering the price difference between them and a 920 which at $300 on newegg is even cheaper than the Q9550?

Would they Oc much higher than the 920?

I havent seen any benchmarks yet for an Oc'ed 965 yet so I dont know about that one

go for the 920 imo
if you have money to blow, then get the 965 as it uses the full bandwidth (direct channel to mem)

Dont slam the guy, I did hear the same a few weeks ago , Intel was saying about locking/limiting the chips. Google it to find out.

I just guess things have changed, maybe they were roumers / plans have changed / whatever. He was right with the knoledge that he had.

Thx for the link scout....Yeah I guess any of them would be better than the core 2 duals and quads we have now.You figure the core 2's prices would drop, but they havent.Isnt as much as I thought it would be for a I7 setup if you are building from scratch anyways it seems

I've heard the I7's have a limit on the amount of watts they'll draw. I think it was between 100 - 200watts. So, that'll limit OC'ing.

if you compare the data rate going to the mem, only the extreme version allows the full spec (compare to the mobo rated mem rate also).
6.4 GT/s vs 4.8 GT/s respectively

So the 920 and the 950 have the same data rate but the 965 obviously is much more superior, for a 700 dollars more.... So the 920 is the best choice in reality then eh? Unless your dirt rich of course.

the 965 costs 1k because it has an unlocked multi, not because of its speed, its the same deal with everything that has the "extreme" label

But the data rate speed is much much more superior I looked at the benchmarks of it too it is definitly superior I am sure the multi has some to do with it but not even half.
