Kind of embarrassing...

I just bought a Zalman 9500A to go on my new Q6600 and mobo (Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3P P45).

The cooler doesn't fit! The cooling stuff on the mobo gets in the way of the clips for the cooler.
Am I just being retarded in installing it or have I messed up in buying it? Either way I'm a fool... Do they let you return coolers for stuff like that? Nothing on the cooler said anything about a minimum space requirement until I was reading the instructions on the inside of the box.

Thanks for the help

Do you have any pictures to help explain it a little better? The HS's on those chipsets are pretty big...

By the looks of it though, there should be enough room.

From pictures I've found it looks like it will work.
What part of the cooling is it hitting?

I am not here to insult your intelligence....but the Zalman 9500 comes in two different models....one of them is specifically for AMD processors. I hope that's not the one you bought. The Zalman 9500 is a smaller cooler, I can't imagine it not fitting, maybe only in a few rare circumstances.

If you do have the correct one....have you tried to install it sideways. Maybe so the air is blowing up? There is no real way to install a CPU cooler....I've seen them blowing all directions:)

Post a good link for your motherboard and the exact cooler you bought. Post links from the manufacturer's website....that's the best way to see how to fix this.

I tried doing it in every orientation but the copper lumps get in the way of the clips to keep the cooler in place. This picture is bigger and I put a red box around the interferring components.
I definitely bought the right one for intel SK775

I have tried it in each of the four orentations available and the orange things get in the way every time.
Thanks for all the help btw
