Cheap Graphics Card

Can someone help me? I'm trying to find a Graphics card that is under $150, but still performs reasonably well.:o

ATI or NVidia? There are a good variety of mid range to high end models now seeing low prices due to the typical Black Friday sales going on both in retail chains and at online vendors. The type of card being looked for like AGP, PCI-16x 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0 would help mainly for the make and model board there.

A few MSI models running from $104- upto $134.99 except two 4850s seen higher can be looked over at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...description=&Ntk=&SpeTabStoreType=&srchInDesc= That's a mix of both ATI and NVidia models seen there.

That's one of the latest ATI driven models there. But what type of card? would be the next question since some are still actually running AGP cards with some recent boards still seeing AGP slots.

Yes I know it comes in GDDR3, I have one. But I've never seen a GDDR2 version.

I think someone confused the 9500 GT with the 9600 GT there. If you run a search you will tend to see GDDR2 listed in the link's description until arriving at the product page to end seeing GDDR3 instead. One example of that is for a Gigabyte model seen at http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2774 that reads as: "Powered by GeForce 9600 GT GPU. Supports PCI Express. Microsoft DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.1 support ... the industry's best 512MB GDDR2 memory and 128-bit memory ..."

You guys are right I made a mistake, Its actually a EVGA 9500GT 1GB of DDR2 ram. Damn I need some reading glasses;)

It's easy enough when you are looking more at the GT item at the end of the model number rather then what comes after the 9 in 9xxx GT. :P

If you are not looking for a high end model you could always bump it up to a mid range card since prices have come down for many cards. The actual demand for power even with a high end card is covered with good 450-500w supply seeing enough amps on the rails. Since you are not going to be planning any SLI or Crossfire setup you likely have enough already with the present supply in.
