I have a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mobo and the front audio is not working. i have plugged them in right as there is one plug. is the problem with the mobo or the case/ thanks in advance for any help i get.

Just double check the wiring. Does the jack sensing thing pop up when you plug the speakers in? As far as the poll, you have a AM2+ board. None of the Intels will work.

thanks for your reply

when i put in the jack nothing comes up as it does when i put it in the mobo directly. i double checked my wiring and all is fine. btw i have an AMD 6000+ not an intel

and the poll is just to see what other ppl use no real reason.

@Bartmasta

does ur front audio work? with mine its just one plug that can only go one way because there is a 'No pin' spot.

thanks all for your replies.

oh you mean plugging in audio into the front audio port?

Nope it doesn't work for me. For my old motherboard I could plug my speakers directly to the front but for this mobo I have to plug it in the back.

yes thats what i mean but why would that be? i mean it does support it. in the manual it says support for HD and AC'97. i put the only one from my case into the mobo and it was one plug so it fit one way only. if it also happens with you the problem may be with the mobo and not the case.

thanks for everyones replies.

Have you checked in your Realtek HD Sound Manager under the Audio I/O tab, for setting of the front panel ports?

Click the little (Tool) icon beside the word Analog in the Audio I/O tab and see if a connector setting pops up.

Have you tried to plug some headphones into it. If something is plugged into a port, in the control panel that port should be lite up, not kinda greyed out like the rest..

I'd like to apply this for Stranglehold and the OP.
I have the same Realtek control panel and funny thing (from the image posted by the OP), i have to tick "Disable front panel", so that the front panel would actually work.

thanks for your replies.

i have tried plugging headphones, a mic and speakers in the front panels in both sockets to make sure they wernt jumble around the wrong way ie. the speaker one in the mic socket. these were not detected

i have tried saying disable front panel audio with no success.

EDIT:

All is allright. i dont know why but i unticked mute rear panel when front headphones are plugged in and vwala the speakers work! i dont know why but i am not complaining! i wanted the front panel audio so i can plug in my headphones for chat and then use the speakers for everything else. like this all i have to do is turn the speakers off when not in use!

there is one wierd thing though (not a problem) but it doesnt detect the speaker in realteck manager thing but still works.

anyway thank you all you have been a great help!!

ok sorry to disappoint but my mic will not work in the front panel. my speakers work fine though. any suggestions?

thanks

EDIT:

very sorry but this thing is so wierd. i not did what patrickv said and disabled detection and both the speakers and mic work. im just hoping they can work permanently like this.

thanks
