I bought a TFT monitor today...

A relisys something or other. My problem is that the cable (D-SUB I think) running from the back of the monitor into the VGA socket gets warm. Not too hot to touch, but warm enought to set alarm bells ringing. I've left it running for a couple of hours and all seems ok, but still...

Is this ok? What could the problem be? Monitor works fine with no other problems.

Just bought one off ebay. As I say, other than the heat there are no other problems. Do you reckon it's ok to use as normal for now, but replace it eventually. Or do you reckon just leave it until the new cable arrives?

Well I think it would be alright to use as long as you don't see smoke coming out from your computer. But I wouldn't leave it on overnight or while you're away from your computer. Just to be safe.

Cheers. I'm just leaving it on for hour long bursts and staying close by!
 
Excessive heat from either the cord(due to a short) or Vga running too hot are both bad as they can damage components(mainly your Video card).

Right, but most likely he'll notice some problems, such as artifacts or shut-downs if the video card overheats.

As I say ... the heat isn't excessive. If it was so hot I pulled back when I touched it i'd turn the PC off and take the monitor back to the shop. But it is only slightly warmer than warm, if you catch my drift. About as hot as a cup of tea that has stood for ten minutes.
