What is the normal OC for a Q6600

I have been deciding on going with a Q9550 for my build, but considering the whole economy thing, my price has gone up substantially. This is over $200 cheaper, so how high do you think I could get it with a freezer 7 pro and the Antec 900 or the NZXT Tempest (pretty much a 900 knock off). So how high could I get it?:confused:
 
Normal without voltage increase for most is 333x9 aka 3.0ghz.

Sadly it depends on the G0 you get...the newer ones are not nice as good as the older ones.

But with a VID of 1.325v (the worst) you can still easily do 3.0ghz. I can hit 3.2ghz with 1.38v but temps are bit to high for my taste.

Currently at 3.0ghz with a 1.325 vid @ 1.3v.

I've got a G0, bought it not so long ago, so I don't think it's one of the older ones. It also has a 1.325 VID. I have it at 3.4Ghz, with 1.42v. Idle temp of 23c and full load of 38c.

I am currently using the freezer 7 pro with a G0 q6600 and right now I am at 3.4ghz and 1.35 volts but not stable yet. My temps reach the upper 60's. A little higher than I want, that's why I am looking at a different cpu cooler.
 
I've heard of people getting the Q6600 right up to 3.6 on air. Personally i think you would be nuts to try and pull that off on air, but I'm going with the Q6600 because of price and performance.

What the hell is your cooler a ice cube? :D

1.4v I am maxing out @ 55 with prime95..reason I dropped down to 3.0ghz...my room is chilly atm will be 7-10c hotter in the summer.
 
Tuniq Tower ;) I'd take a look at it, you'd be able to push yours a little higher with it!
I wanted to go for 3.6 but I'd probably need something like 1.48v, plus I don't think I'd be doing my PSU any favours.

I was looking at that but no one could give me a 100% on the size so was not sure if it would fit at the time.

Then again I payed 15 bucks for my Xigmatek (includes back plate) so not a bad deal.
For some miracle of god I was able to get 3.2ghz @ 1.35v so I reached my goal with temps capping at 55c or so on the 800000 prime95 test but 50c max on normal 100% load.


Still if I plan to go further I will look into the TT120 ^-^
 
Yeah, it is pretty big. That's a good price! 3.2 is a great OC, too. I mean, you'd pay like another £100 for that... Why bother when you can do it yourself :P

Well you can grab a Xigmatek its rather cheap and good performance. I am sure I could go higher with it but as said 3.2ghz was my goal + I don't like to see 60c on core temps ^-^


I have a question Korn....does your TT120 hit the case side on a Antec 900? I thought about getting one if there is another good deal on them in the future.

Nope, there's about a 5mm gap. Cutting it close, but it fits.

You can't use a fan on the side panel though, the TT gets in the way. I did try cutting the corner off a fan but even then I couldn't get it to fit.
