I was thinking of getting 3 GTX 260, just wanna know a couple of things. Is it worth spending out to upgrade? are they good cards? anyone know what kind of frame rate 3 of them would give in crysis?
Thanks

There are far better options that getting 3 of those cards. Such as one 4870x2, or maybe a couple of GTX 280's.

Yeah, I wouldn't splash out on 3 of 'em. To be honest, I wouldn't buy one of them. Your SLI set-up gives pretty much the same performance as one of them would.

I'd keep with what you have now, till you notice it struggling. Which will be a pretty long time.

Then, by that time, nVidia will have new cards out.

lol an ATI GPU in a nVidia case would look a bit wrong, plus a a bit of a nVidia fanboy, nothing wrong with ATI but yeah,. if i got 2 280's and the 780i FTW it comes to £928, but if i got for 3 260 and the 780i FTW its £888.

point taken but i can't play GTA IV at max and i only get like 25 FPS in crysis with no AA.

Anyway Danny how sweet would my computer look with 3 260's in the case im getting with its mods and with WC'ing

People with SLI GTX280's can't play GTA IV maxxed out, it's a pretty shitty port.
It needs a patch. Also, SLI isn't supported by it yet. Crossfire is, but SLI isn't. That's probably why, too. What I've heard helps is to disable SLI and set your second card up as a PhysX card. ;)

Crysis, really? I play it on Very High and get between 30 - 70 FPS. Is it all patched up?

really? ok fair enough.

well i got 36 once but that was only coz i OC'ed my cards alot. yeah i got 1.2 patch, im guessing its the latest.

As good as the Q6600 is, it would bottleneck something extreme like three 260s in SLI. If you must get Nvidia, why don't you upgrade your CPU and then get two 260s (or 280s) in SLI instead? Three of those cards is not going to scale well at all.

BTW, what kind of PSU do you have? I'm guessing 1000w or something (or at least 850) if you're that confident in your ability to SLI three high-end cards.

I think you're going to struggle to find somebody that's worth upgrading to from the Q6600, especially since he has it at 3Ghz. It's nothing that a little OC'ing couldn't fix.

His SLI'd 8800's are perfectly fine for now. There's no reason to upgrade. You're not noticing any lag are you?

get a pair of 4870x2's if your going to go multi, isn't much point in tri sli unless you play on a moniter with 2560x1600 or whatever it is

Pretty much everyone in this thread is right, but Korn and Noob both had good points. With your 19" samsung, the 8800 GT's in SLI are perfect. If you REALLY want to upgrade though why not just get one GTX 280? It would give more performance, and plus it would be a lot cheaper. Unless you're going to buy a 30" monitor or greater, stick with your cards.
