Does your DSL connection ever cut off?

I dunno if i'm alone with this problem, but is your DSL connection constant, do you NEVER get cut off or does it cut off occasionally?

I changed my router and there has been significant improvement, but the connection will drop out, maybe once every two days. The log says "LCP down".

Thanks!

Or dsl hub! That's what happens here connecting this build through a central hub while the host pc connects directly by way of a nik card. If left idle too long or simply deciding to run a game for a period of time the system will need a restart in order to see the connection by way of a usb adapter refreshed

The hub is now about 6 1/2yrs, old and sometimes will drop while having two IE pages open or right in the middle of a large download. Another XP build first saw this problem for a period of time while Vista is now seeing this too.

I used to have constant issues in the beginning of the summer with the cooling and expanding of my cable line. The internet would die and the cable would be fuzzy. They kept thinking it was in the house until they looked at the pole and saw the line had been chewed on by a squirrel. Haven't had an issue since.

Yeah since afterall he mentioned having a hub.

I have at&t dsl service, my modem/router is a Netgear DG834GT. My connection will drop but only for a few seconds and i notice it only occurs once every couple of days. Can anyone relate?

That sounds more like the servers are simply busy where you start off slow until the volume lightens up suddenly. You get that from time to time mostly depending on what time of day or night you are logging on for the first time that day.

I doubt that because the connection is dropped for maybe 30 seconds at the most, and the webpages will not load.

Sometimes Windows simply won't sync fully right away if you are on a direct connection like cable or dsl when going to get on. If the ISP's servers are full right at that moment you won't get on until someone or some others logoff in those seconds or get passed along to the next server inline taking the first server's overload. That keeps everything from seeing a total lock.
