I7 and gtx 280 Sli Power requirements

Well I was thinking about going with one of the quality 750 watters (Ocz,corsair,Pc&p,Silverstone) Ps for my new I7 build from what I have been reading it takes more watts that a regular Q9550 build especially if Sli/crossfire is wanted .If I wanted to add a second 280 down the road dont know if a 750 watt would handle it without straining.

Does it look like I would probably need a 1KW unit from those manufacturers to be safe with a I7?

I would rather have more than I need than not enough and have to upgrade later to a higher wattage unit.

go with a 1k watt unit, you have more headroom that way for upgrades in the future

Yeah that is what I was thinking. When it first came out I thought the I7 was supposed to be more efficient but it seems some people are having trouble keeping it stable with Ocing and a beefy card with the lower wattage Ps's.

i'm not sure about i7, i mean its a great processor, but from what i've heard there are problems with energy leakage when overclocked, i know someone noticed a phenominon at about 1.7 volts(benching) they just can't get enough voltage because of the motherboards, the electricity just leaks(its really weird lol)

Hmm ,I wonder if that is the reason for many of the problems then. The I7 has a rating of 130 watts so it is not too terribly high wattage but people posting it eating up 300 watts with high OC makes me wonder:confused:

the 130 watts has nothing to do with power draw as far as i know, i think thats just how many watts of heat it offputs
