I want to OC my rig.

...but I have the jitters about touching anything in the BIOS. I have the hardware, just not the know how. Before I go further, I'll list my hardware:

CPU: E8500 Intel Core Duo; Wolfdale (3.16 GHz)/Arctic Silver compund
GPU: EVGA 9800GTX ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130376 )
RAM: 4 x 2GB G.Skill DDr2 800 PC6400
MoBo: BIOSTAR TPower I45

I bought this stuff because of the reviews regarding their overhead when it came to components and OC.

Now, As a reference, my Computer scored a 3dMark06 score of 13,279; CPU score was 2,873. Someone with a lesser system (E8400, 8800GT, 2GB Ram) got a 18,769 with some overclocking. I'd like to get similar. Heat is not an issue as I have a huge case with 2 250MM fans.

Any ideas where to start for the OC n00b?

LOL 18k with an 8800gt? not going to happen, ever. that is my exact rig, and i score 13-14k every time, and this is at 4ghz on my e8400.

i agree,maybe its possible with 2x 8800Gt in sli but not one alone.

Not sure if I can post pics in this forum yet.

I read through the 101 but I need to formulate a way to OC with my memory and all. I ran Memtest but couldn't finish it, but it didnt show any errors. I fell my memory or CPU cooling could be an issue, but it sits at around 38 celsius during CounterStrike Source.
