Bent pins on a 5200+ :[

This is my first build, and my CPU has a few bent pins, just barely out of line. is there any way I can fix this?

See if you can fit some really narrow object between the pins, and try to carefully straighten them... at least in the past the easiest thing to do was to put something like a credit card between two rows of pins, but new CPUs may have too little space between the pins... maybe a knife?

I used the smallest screw driver I had (So small I've never even seen it before) and straightened them out and it fit fine.
Thanks.

congrats! i just got done writing a post about how cheap and easy to break the pins are and how they usually break off when you try to bend them back. i had it happen to me not to long ago.

I use 2 toothpicks to bend and straighten my bent pins on my old X2 4400+.

I got one off ebay for 10 bucks when it was 100 bucks+ had 40% of the pins bent ^-^

Works really well and its just small enough to fit between them. Also no risk of static shocking with a tooth pick.

Haha with how easy this was to fix compared to what I thought it would be, I might start doing that with my builds!

Its a risky move one broken pin = SOL but when it works it is nice.

Won't work on the Intel DC/QC sadly but still works for AMD ^-^
