Dunno about that... AMD already has great mainstream products performance as well as price-wise, but Intel still dominates the mainstream segment as well... simply because they have more market presence; having the best product on the market gives the consumer impression of a better brand, and anyways Intel has way more funds for marketing & advertising. It's like having to choose between two mainstream cars; one branded Porsche and the other Opel. Sure, the Porsche won't be any better than the Opel, but people are more likely to buy it because the name Porsche is associated with quality, high performance and prestige... well you get the point. I really hope AMD can offer the great value the way they did with the 4xxx cards... having a competitive product ain't enough right now, they need to have a better product, and if performance ain't going to make it the best (which it won't thanks to i7), value has to *fingers crossed*but mainstream, AMD is going to make a big splash.
There will be no "end"; unless either Intel or AMD goes bankrupt. Which won't happen until 1)The Rapture 2)3rd World War or 3)George W. Bush makes a comeback. Until then, it will be like the bitchy teen sisters fighting over a guy... never-ending, constantly changing the situation to something more exciting and juicy, making bystanders speculate and spread rumors... AMD just forgot to use waterproof foundation this round while Intel had a balloon filled with water, let's see what happens next.I think in the end, (if amd can make it to the end) amd will be the final winner. There design makes more sense to me and I think that ever since core 2 intel has just been making there cpus more "amdlike"
If they made them "AMD like", then how come the Intel processors outperform the AMD's?I think in the end, (if amd can make it to the end) amd will be the final winner. There design makes more sense to me and I think that ever since core 2 intel has just been making there cpus more "amdlike"
