I have 4GB Ram but only 3GB Shows up?

Well how come only 3GB is useable when i go to www.canirunit.com it says i only have 3GB and other areas in my comp also say i only have 3GB Ram but yet i have 4GB is it because im running Vista that uses up 1GB?

If you do not have Vista 64, it will not recognize all 4 gigs.

Yeah if you have windows vista 32bit addition the most it will recognize it 3.5 gigz

does your bios recognise the 4gig of ram?

you should see 3.25gig of ram really unless your computer is only showing the ram accessable to the operating system.

in other words some of ram might be getting used for graphics therefore the computer wont show that memory as being accessable

its 32bit and it only shows 3066Mhz
Alright thanks, im not forking out another $100 for an OS when i already have Vista, 3GB will have to do...

You can see 4GB on a 32-bit vista....you need to install SP1 and there is another update..which I cannot recall the number for off hand..

yeah, SP1 will show how much is installed, but it doesnt actually use all 4gb of ram, the same 3-3.5gb ram limitation still applies

some 32-bit do not show past 3..

others have 4, 6...etc...I was actually surprised this sony posted it.
