can i overclock my e8400 with out touching my ram setting and pci setings and with out my computer blowing up.

My computer specs are:
Nvidia nforce 780i SLI
GTX 260 216 cores
Intel e8400 3.0GHz
OCZ DDR2 800 Profess1onal Series
Stock cooler
Tough power 850W

(i think thats all you need to know but if not tell me)

im not using a stock cooler and I have never used the stock cooler so I don't know as far as temps. but the cooler I have was only 25$ or something and when I have it at 4.05 the temps only rise slightly and I never worry about it blowing up or whatever haha

I'm not familiar with your bios, but you should be able to do about 3.4-3.5 on stock voltage. And you do not leave anything on "auto", because when you go adjusting the FSB, "auto" usually sets some things/volts too high.

Yeh,

Agreed!!

Both of us have lots of experience with that cpu and 'auto' is not a good choice.

Thank you on the tip to take of auto but what things do i take auto off of. and didnt really help me out on answering my original question.

You have to watch the ram, like i said. Auto on the memory timings and overclocking is not a good idea, all those need to be set to manual. The higher you set the FSB, the mre unstable your ram can become. You just have to mess around with it...
