I was hanging out with my girlfriend the other day and we went to her grandparent's house to say hi. Her grandpa showed me some a couple laptops that his friend gave him and I thought they where pretty cool so he gave them to me.

They are HP Omnibooks 800CT. The come installed with windows 95, but one has 98 on it and the other has windows 2000. They have 32mb of ram and 2gb hard drives. The floppy and cdrom drives are external. Pretty sweet :)

It's pretty cool because the mouse comes out the side.

Wow, I want one!!! I like the way the mouse comes out the side.

Someone returned us an old compaq laptop at work which had a pentuim 1, 8 megs of ram, a 6 hundred and something meg hdd, and it ran windows 3.11.

That had one of them trackball mice which I personally prefer to touchpads!

It seems that a lot of retro laptops look cool check out this one for example

Why can't we make laptops like that now? But with quad core processors and a 280 in each one. I think the Eee PC is heading in the right direction with small and good looking

I would take one of them apart and fiddle round with it like shove a intel celeron in it or sumthing. Or tons of ram or something stupid ike that

wow they are quite neat!

i wonder how much ram you could install in those? if you can still get the ram that is.

i would put a linux distro on one, upgrade the ram and find out some way of getting it able to connect to the internet.

Yeah I plan on running DSL on them. The cd drives are only 8x though :P. I am having a problem with the CDs though because for some reason the drive won't recognize my cds. I think they only recognize cds that are 650mb or less because it worked with an old 650mb cd, but idk.
