Can I power a LED with a AA battery

The LED is 18,000 mcd Super White LED from superbrightleds.com (RL5-W18030) and is currently powered by a 3V cell battery. A AA battery is 1.2V, its not dangerous to power it with that lesser voltage battery right?

correct, it just wont be as bright (if it were something more complicated, you would have to worry about watts an stuff, but for a lil led your straight.)

As said it won't damage anything, but why not use two AA batteries in series to give you 2.4 volts and make it brighter.
