Ok, Help me overclock my i7, please

Lots of you told me I could go higher with my i7. Which I really don't know how exactly. I tried following my Ramage Manual but didn't get no where. I've been told I could get it to 4.0 easy with my V8 which according to SpeedFan it's running at 25C. So could you guys please give me pointers on how to achieve higher? And how? lol
 
Core i7 OC'ing is different than socket 775, because it does not have the fsb anymore, and the memory controller is integrated. It's learning to OC all over again, and most people on here have not looked into it yet (including myself). Wish someone would make an OC'ing 101 for i7.
 
That kind of helped but not with the Rampage 2 extreme. Thank you though!

Well, I got to 3.4. After getting a few BSOD. I'll try more and run 3Dmark in a little bit.
 
if i remember one thing correctly, it is that the core i7's hate the multiplier of 20, so either set it to 19, or 21/22, then just keep upping the qpi, try to get to 200 mhz qpi with a 21/19 multiplier
 
Right now, My multiplier is bouncing around from 12 to 20, My voltage is at 1.232V, and my bus speed is 170, And my QPI Link is around 3060. MHz according to CPU-Z

Also, i really don' know how to set just the multiplier is the Rampage 2 Extreme Bios, it's a little different.

umm turn off intel power saver or something like that in the bios, not sure what its called, set your multiplier to 19, i think you just change the number to 19, then hit enter, then try to get the bus speed at a stable 200mhz
 
I've read that about 3 times lol. I'll actually read it now. Thanks. I've had it set tp 3.4 but I turned it down to 2.93 for now.

One problem I've been having is I get the BSOD like when i'm in a game it'll freeze than BSOD will come up. ERR what's that about?
