Anybody play Americas Army?

Don't think about it.... Combat Arms is pathetic compared to AA. It's not even in the same league. In Combat Arms, you can't scope in the regular ironsights so you have to rely on the cross hair and the aiming is programmed so that everyone has like Aimbot. I swear.

I talked to a friend and he said one of the reasons that game sucks is because the anti-cheat software is pathetic so infact, everyone does have an aimbot ;)

He said that even if it detects your hack, you dont get banned, just kicked and you can instantly join another server.

I played it a long time ago and hacking issue aside, I just didnt like the gameplay. IDK, i was real into Americas Army back in the day and expecting that to replace it was a mistake.

*cough*CSS is where its at*cough* Unless AA3 is epic (fingers crossed)

AA3 is going to be epic. Without a doubt. Screenshots of the new Pipeline is just off the chart in terms of gorgeous.

Screw CSS... it's soo unrealistic. TF2 ftw.

I tried really really hard to like it last night but after 5 games without even getting off a shot before dying instantly I said to hell with it!

Booted up day of defeat and started having some fun!

Ill wait till aa3 and try it again

How many servers were there? Im tempted to try out 2.8...I quit playing when 2.7 was released.

Hmm well I disagree with you all on how Combat Arms isn't much fun, I enjoy it quite a bit. I can see where the aimbot issue comes into effect but it's not a deal breaker for me. I still enjoy it.

lol, AA has a really really really big learning curve.
I don't think it's that bad. AA's big weakness is the unreal engine and punkbuster. I had admin access to a server while I still played and even with the most current version of punkbuster you wouldn't believe how many people still were able to use aimbots or radars.

Yeah. In the days of 2.5 I was admin for a fairly large clan. It was fun but i could see how there were some people who spent 20+ hours a week catching cheaters.

Hmm interesting info on wikipedia about AA3

America's Army 3.0

America's Army 3 (AA3) is scheduled for beta-testing in winter 2008.[37] Based on the Unreal Engine 3, this version is said to put emphasis on graphical performance and on graphical flexibility to cover a greater range of PCs, as well as decreased size for the full version download.[38][39] The OPFOR's weapon will no longer be the AK-47 but a fictional weapon called the Obran KNP, based on the IMI Galil.[40] The player's "jump" function will be radically changed.[41] Several pictures of various guns have been released as well as a screen shot from the game released on AA official forums.

I hope some things will be fixed in the newer version of the Unreal Engine.
OPFOR wont have AKs? Weird.

Combat arms wasn't fun because people had aimbots, it wasn't fun because it honestly, it just plain sucked imo.

The guns had unrealistic limits, for example, I once killed a guy that was on a rooftop amd forever away from me... With a crappy little pistol. Not only that but the graphics look three generations behind their times and there just wasn't much skill involved in leveling up or any real rewards for achieving higher levels.

Well, for someone who doesn't particularly enjoy FPS games, who succeeds more in strategy games I think Combat Arms is fun :D It doesn't require much skill at all to feel like a good player, and I'll be the first to say that :P. I'm just biding my time before Battlefield Heroes comes out, until I build a desktop PC that can handle the video games out currently, free games like Combat Arms are it for me. However, I did just get America's Army set up on my laptop..I made it past basic training mission 1. I'll see how that goes.
