Monitor resolution problem

Hey, I've got this problem with my new computer and monitor and I know nothing about computers, so I was hoping to get some help here. I've called loads of supports already and nobody seems to be able to help me.

I have recently bought a new computer with Windows Vista and my monitor is an AOC2230fh with a 1680 x 1050 resolution. When I brought the computer home and turned on everything, it worked perfectly. One day however, I turned it on and the resolution was all messed up. So I tried to change it, but my computer didn't give me the 1680 x 1050 option. Apparently it doesn't recognize the monitor I'm using. When I called the support, they told me to reinstall the motherboard driver. I did that and it didn't really help. I've got an NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 610i.

Now when I turn it on, it sometimes gives me the right resolution and sometimes it doesn't.. it really depends on its mood :P

So, does anyoby know what could be causing this problem?

Cheers

i would go to the nvidia site and see if there are any updates on the integrated gpu you have.
if they dont try reinstalling the drivers from it with the drivers that nvidia has for it

Could be your refresh rate isnt set right for 1680/1050. Should be on 60Hz.

Well, I managed to find a solution.. it was rather simple. In the NVIDIA control panel there's an option for creating custom resolutions. So I created one with the correct specifications and it's working fine :D

Lets see if it's gonna hold :P

Thank you for the help

Cheers
